I decided to shoot the MayDay protests with the single goal in mind of shooting a protest well. I grew up surrounded by a Hispanic culture until I moved away at 16, and as a result there seems to be a bit more understanding on my part from being engulfed in that community. I have much respect to those who work hard to make a better life for their family.
I am a social documentry and editorial photographer currently Interning at The Columbus Dispatch in Columbus, OH. I graduated from Brooks Institute of photography with a degree in Visual Journalism in 2008.
I believe in the power of words, the creativity of caffeine at 3am, and the human spirt. I believe that people should not be afraid of their government, but the government afraid of its people. I believe in the teachings of Thoreau, Dan Eldon, and Christopher McCandless.
